No I’m not going to ask you to vote for me - I haven’t even registered for the shortlist. Given how recently I’ve started blogging, I think it would be a bit premature to ask for an award.

I had been unsuccessfully trying to ignore the hype surrounding the Irish blog awards this year - I find all that navel-gazing and back slapping is a bit too much to bear. But the prevalence of ‘please vote for me’ syndrome on some of the blogs I read daily has become a bit too grating to ignore. The awards haven’t even been given out yet, and already noses are being put out of joint. Given how small and insular the Irish blogosphere is, it may turn personal soon enough. At least then we might get entertaining catfights as a result of all the hype.
