Shell to sea protestors engage in direct action
GardaĆ have escorted a group of around 100 protestors off the site of a Shell refinery at Bellanaboy, Co Mayo.
Superintendent Joe Gannon said he asked the protestors to leave the Corrib Oil site on health and safety grounds.
Over 100 people who had earlier gained access to the site through the perimeter fence on the Pullathomas road agreed to leave peacefully.
Around 120 gardaĆ were present at the Corrib gas terminal.
The group was among around 400 people who earlier took part in a peaceful Shell to Sea march at the site.
