Megadeth frontman takes aim at the U.N.
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Heavy metal maven Dave Mustaine is so angry with the United Nations that he is naming his group Megadeth’s next album “United Abominations.”
“I was watching TV and saw the trucks that said ‘UN’ on them and said, ‘Man, you are so uncool, ineffective, anything,” the singer/guitarist said in a recent Billboard interview.
“I thought, ‘Wow, I’ve got to run with this. I got it — United Abominations, ’cause it’s an abomination what they’re doing!”
As well as being a practicing Christian/failed Metallica guitarist/general nitwit, Dave Mustaine is an outspoken supporter of Conservative politics. Like many of his Conservative brethren, Mustaine is not known for subtly or undstanding of complicated situations. Never mind the fact that for all the UN’s faults and failings, millions of people depend on UN for their survival through food aid, that UN has played a key role in providing healthcare and clean drinking water for millions more and has de-mined vast tracts of land left over from conflicts long since forgotten. All that is brushed aside with the perception that anything which cannot be solved by a 60 day bombing campaign is seen as a failure. By those standards, the current Iraq campaign, is a classic ‘UN-Style’ failure too.
On the same subject, one of his Megadeth’s biggest selling albums, ‘Peace Sells, But Who’s Buying?’ was party inspired the Northern Ireland conflict for it’s seemingly intractable nature.
