George Galloway suffers from Che Guevara syndrome

I tend to agree with George Galloway on many points, but sometimes he can be a complete twat. There can be a fine line between understanding the actions of terrorists and endorsing them. Galloway does not only that but ends up idolizing Hezbollah as a bunch of glorious freedom fighters, in the style of Che Guevara, because they happen to be on the side opposing Israel/US. He sees them as ‘defending’ Lebanon – if you call mostly hiding among civilians as cover to launch rockets at Israeli cities ‘defending’ that is. Yes, I do understand why people on the Muslim side would want to take up arms against the US/Israel and the West. But let’s face it, indiscriminately raining down 2000+ missiles on cities packed with civilians is nothing other than terrorism. If he criticizes Israel for killing civilians, he should apply the same moral logic to Hezbollah. Otherwise, he’s just as big a hypocrite as George Bush is.
And let’s not forget, even if Israel had completely withdrawn from Lebanon (and if you take aside the few square miles which make up the Shebaa Farms, that’s exactly what they did do), there would still be Islamic fanatics wanting to wipe out Israel. Israel generally only attacks when provoked and ultimately has no desire to stay in South Lebanon other than as a means to defend itself from further rocket attacks from Hezbollah. Peace has been achieved between Israel and other nations such as Jordan and Egypt. The same approach could have worked in the case of Lebanon as well if Hezbollah had been interested.
